Should I remove lichen and moss from my roof?

To avoid expensive repairs, moss and lichen should be removed from your roof tiles using a treatment system if it is covering a significant area of your roof. Avoid pressure washing your roof unless you are planning to recoat or restore as it can leave your roof looking patchy due to sun damaged roof coatings.

Do my down pipes need to be diverted?

Yes. No chemicals should be discharged in to the storm water.

We disconnect your down pipes and divert the flow onto open ground or collect where drains can become compromised.

Why is there lichen on my roof?

Moss and lichens loves growing on roofs. Lichens grow from the algae. They act like sponges, keeping the roof damp and causing even more growth. Roof moss and lichens anchor their “roots” into your roofs surface causing damage.

Can you install down pope diverters for future roof maintenance?

Yes. We can install the Marley Curve downpipe diverter system, the system is slimline and looks great and also works to divert leaves from blocking the storm water.

Do I need scaffold installed for the roof cleaning treatment?

In most cases we access the roof by ladders and install fall restraints where required, if a scaffold is required we will let you know.

How often should you treat your roof?

Generally, it is a good idea to get your roof treated by professionals once a year. This is often enough to where if problems develop, they can be caught early on. If you have a roof that is in good shape or was just recently installed, then you may only need a roof cleaning once every two years.

How long do roof treatments take to kill moss and lichen?

Our commercial grade treatment solution Mossguard+ kills and neutralizes the growth on the the roof within the first 2 days of application, as the growth breaks down the weather washes it away.

We have seen great results from 3 -12months, in some cases where there is heavy build up of growth a second application is required.
